What does AGPS actually do?
I have a SE C702 cell phone which i can use for GPS tracking. It takes some time to find enough satellites, but it works perfectly. Now I can also use AGPS, which means Assisted GPS and I think it helps you find satellites faster, but what does it use for that?
Do I pay for it to find them faster, and if I do, will it stop when i’m connected to the satellites?
No,A-GPS does not help you to find satellite faster.
A-GPS is assisted by your network provider (your cellphone company) to make it faster calculation to pinpoint the position.Your network provider assisted by sending DATA of their Cell Tower gps data.This data is sent to your GPS over DATA connection via GPRS,EDGE or 3G.
Since it incuring DATA connection,YES you will get charged for using A-GPS.You charged for that DATA connection (gprs,edge,or 3g).But if you have Data Plan you wont charged extra.
