You’ve got a fairly severe eye inflamation (probably caused by contact lens related corneal infection).. called Iritis or Uveitis… the symptom that you’re experiencing is photophobia.

When ever you look at lights, your iris contracts to reduce your pupil size to reduce the amount of light into your eye. Now if you have an infection in your iris muscle, its contraction will = PAIN.

Also, when you look at anything up close (your mobile phone screen), your iris will also contract… to give you the same pain.

The diagnosis is that even when you look at light with your R eye, and the pain comes in your L eye. This is because both irides constrict when either either eye is exposed to bright light.

YOUR NEED TO GO AND SEE AN EYE DOCTOR URGENTLY.

This infection will NOT go away on its own. If left alone, it could seriously affect your vision PERMANENTLY.

Pick up the phone right now, and ring an eye doctor!!!

EDIT…

What you’re describing… is iritis… It may have been caused by a corneal abrasion, but the inflamation went from the cornea, into the anterior chamber and then affecting the IRIS. You describe the pupil (infact there is no such thing as a pupil.. it’s a HOLE created by the IRIS)… It’s the iris which is a (pair of) muscle (not your eyeball)… which contracts and relaxes.

The corneal abrasion (if there is one), is now not as important… the inflamation affecting the iris is the danger… especially with inflamation cells in the anterior chamber, it could lead to a sight threatening condition called ACUTE GLAUCOMA…

ONCE more… See your EYE DOC as soon as you can
