Cell Phone Gateway Address
Has anyone ever heard of DSL service working *only* when you are on the telephone at the same time?
I transferred my DSL service to another address and now my DSL signal only is active when I am actively on the telephone. I tried unplugging my phone and plugging my DSL line directly into the wall jack and it doesn’t help. Currently I have my phone plugged into a filter in one room and my wireless gateway modem plugged into a filter in another room – and yes, the DSL is plugged into the DSL filter jack and the phone is plugged into the phone filter jack 
Right now, my husband had to call our home phone using his cell phone so I can use the internet!!! This is a mystery to tech support. My telephone company is going to send someone out to check my line, but they warned me that the results are uncertain because this is not a common issue. Has anyone come across this before? Do you have any idea what the problem could be?
yes, that usually means that you need to check the Telephone filters. One of them might have failed. Other telephone wires might be lose.
I had this happen when I first got my DSL service. After I replaced a few filters and tightened up some of the telephone wire connections, the service worked perfectly for years. (but since, I have changed to Cable high speed).
If you have checked and/or replaced those filters, and all of the wires seem good INSIDE the building, and it still does not work right, contact your Phone company. There might be a problem with the wires at the pole, or phone company.
