Did Star Trek or 2001 A Space Odyssey inspire modern day cell phones and on line video chat or exist in past?
Did the Communicator on the first generation Star Trek television series and the Video Phone on Arthur C. Clarke’s 2001 A Space Odyssey inspire current cell phones and programs like SKYPE on line real time video chat or, did these technologies exist already but kept quiet until the market was ready for such new technology?
Although it’s not much as a source, I’ve been told that the military usually has technology decades ahead of the market. I’d look into that if you’re serious in studying technology.
Also, don’t forget James Bond had his share of technologically advanced gadgets that we now take for granted.
