Why is it so hard to get a good digital watch?

1. Why are digital watches so much less common than analog ones?
2. Why is it so difficult to find a hi-quality digital watch (of comparable materials and workmanship, say, to a Tissot or Frédérique Constant analog Swiss watch)?
3. How come digital watch manufacturers don’t supply the market with a product with a stylish LCD typeface for the numerals, comparable to a state-of-the-art cell phone, rather than a 7-seg display that screams “cheap”?
4. Don’t you think digital watches are so much sharper and more stylish than analog ones?

In general analog watches are considered more stylish than digital watches, and even though digital watches are more practical than analog, I also think analog is more stylish.

There are alot of little kids watches that are digital though, because they can’t read the time I suppose. You look more intelligent if you have an analog i suppose!

It’s hard to get a good digital watch because there isn’t a high demand for them. I heard something on the news about the sale of watches in general halving in the last decade as people no longer really need them as they have a million other things that tell the time (phone, ipod, camera, microwave, computer ect) and just look at them to find the time.

I have a friend who wears a watch just because she likes how it looks, even though it hasn’t actually told the correct time for two years. I have to admit, I’d rather have a stylish analog clock that had no or tiny numbers and was difficult to read than a digital one with the time clearly presented on it…sounds silly but it’s true

No, I don’t think digital watches are so much sharper and more stylish, they look more sporty to me (all of the sport teachers I’ve ever had have had them so maybe that’s why). There is less demand for digital watches, therefore there is less variety and it’s harder to find one you like.
