Study abroad, prepaid cell phone and cards.?
I’m studying abroad in Argentina for 6 weeks this summer and I know that they offer prepaid cell phones and phone cards there. What I was wondering, if I get a phone with the phone cards, will it charge the people I call in the U.S. when I call them, or is that the point of getting the minutes cards. I want to be able to call some friends and family but I don’t want them to be charged for me calling them.
Yes you will be charged. Those charges are called roaming charges which can be way expensive. For more accurate information call your cell phone helpline and they will give you the details. May be the service you are planning to use in Argentina have a better package for you.
