Cell Phones Store Philippines

How Long do Cell Phone Numbers Last in Philippines, if not Used?
While on a two-week visit to the Philippines last month, I bought a new Nokia 1202 at a small store in SM Mall, Clark for PHP 1250, and had them install a Globe SIM card for another 60 or so. This gave me a local cell phone number, and a PHP 100 Globe load gave me all the airtime I need for checking on hotel vacancies, airline schedules and texting a sweetie I met there.
Even though it won’t work here in the USA, I decided to keep the phone so I can use it on future trips to the P.I. So, for the next 11 months, the phone won’t be used. There’s only about PHP 36 left on the initial load.
My question is: when I go back to the P.I. next January and charge this phone up, will I still have this same cell phone number, or will I have buy a new SIM card and thus get a new phone number????? Or do cell phone numbers expire after a certain time if they’re not used, even if there’s some airtime left on the load?
SIM cards, whether Globe, Sun, Smart… it all lasts 6 months if untouched.
i did the same when i bought a Cingular (now AT&T) SIM card in the US and a SingTel SIM in Singapore. when i went back to those countries and it was over a year, the numbers had already expired.
don’t worry, get another SIM card. it’s very cheap to text here in the Philippines. there are even free text plans like 50 free texts worth 10 pesos with no expiry, unlimited texts for a day worth 20 pesos, unlimited texts for a week for 5 days worth 80 pesos… you can text dozens of sweeties if you want.
