Smartphone for watching stock?
I am a TMobile customer, and no plan to leave Tmobile, no iPhone is not an option.
Currently I don’t have web service from TMobile, I just use phone to dial and receive calls.
Now I decide to buy a smart phone for watching stocks during work time, I am a Scottrade customer( http://www.scottrade.com/scottrade_mobile_trading_site/index.asp ), would like to know more before buying a smartphone, is stock price instant on the smartphone? Do I need to refresh it(just like refreshing webpage in order to view the updated price)?
I decide to buy this phone ( https://www.t-mobile.com/shop/Phones/cell-phone-detail.aspx?cell-phone=Samsung-Galaxy-S-4G ), all I need is adding unlimited web serve ($30/month) to my current plan?

There are two methods a broker can show you stock info on a mobile device:
1. Web based – Scottrade is a web based system. This means you use your browser to go to their mobile version page.
2. App based – Some brokers have specific apps that you can download to an iPhone or Android phone (such as TD Ameritrade, Interactive Brokers, etc.)
App based systems are better (in my opinion). More options and better charts. However, I don’t know of any that deliver live streaming info. The reason is that this sucks up battery juice very fast! Some apps may give you an option to refresh at certain intervals.
There are many apps out there for the iPhone and Android systems that aren’t tied to any brokers. They give you accurate and up to date quotes and charts. Google has their own stock app as well, but it’s not live watching a chart update tick-by-tick on your computer. These can refresh at specific intervals (somethings within seconds). The faster they refresh, the more battery they will eat up.
An iPhone or Android based system is a great way to keep track of your portfolio, but don’t use it for active trading.
And yes, all you need is the $30/month plan for unlimited Internet access.
