What is a very upper class city, with a very prestigious school in it?
I am currently writing my first novel and I have a few questions.
1. Can I use names of products, stores, schools, cities, etc. without permission from them?
2. If so what is a very upper class city, with a very prestigious school in it?
3. Can I make up a name of a school?
4. What is a good app for an iPad for writing novels?

By the way, I would go into detail about my novel but I’d rather not in case of someone stealing my idea, I can say It is in the format of what I believe first person point of view since it is a young girls diary, its setting is in a very upper class city (i just need to find a city first hahaha) and the girl is a lot about fashion. This feels like I’m giving too much info but anyway that gives you an idea Thanks again so much!
1. Yes, absolutely. If you want to talk about a character drinking Coke while hanging out In New York waiting to hear if they got into Juliard, you can. What you CAN’T do is talk about real things in a negative/untrue way while presenting them as truth. Like you can’t mention that the above mentioned character never drinks Pepsi because Pepsi’s products are all laced with PCP. Because that is a lie, but you are presenting it as true. Pepsi could then theoretically sue you for libel.
2. There isn’t really such a thing as an “upper class city”. All cities have to have both upper and lower classes in order to function in our society. I think the word you’re looking for is “metropolitan”, in which case you could go with anything from New York City, New York to London, England to Austin, Texas, to Chicago, Illinois, to many, many more. Almost all large cities have at least one school that could be considered “prestigious”. Although if you’re talking colleges, just look up a list of the Ivy League schools for suitably “prestigious” places.
