How do you get an NHS diagnosis for a personality disorder?
Sorry for my typinh – stupid ipad keyboards!
I suspect i have a comorbid personality disorders. Obviosuly i dont know for sure having only read books but I would like to get a medical diagnosis so i can have appropriate treatment (previoulsy had a couple of low intensity therapists who were simply baffled).
I would like an actual diagnosis for my own peace of mind and to arrange a schedule with work to make therapy appointments.
I went to my GP stating I thought i had a PD, was sent for depression councellling, bereavement councelling and then phobia councelling – the two councellors were confused and the trainee psychologist I saw Never seemed to be able to help because she had to keep referring to her supervisor (that I had never met) for advice, eventually she gave me a speech about not being ready to change.
i think you need to go talk to your docter again and tell them that you would like to see a psychologist. im not sugguesting this as a means of getting a psycharist and therapy but i was seriously self harming and being in and out of hospital alot in which i was instantly referred to a psycharist and psychologist.im just saying this because i havnt tried getting one the way you are…. but all i can say is that i do think u should talk to your docter again and explain how these low intensity therapists arnt working. also they only tend to send u to a psycharist if your actually willing to go on meds…. you dont mention if your previsouly on anything or willing to….
