Ipad Sync Charge Cable

iPad won’t charge/ sync with my computer?
i have a ipad 3g and when I plug it to my laptop, it does not charge or nothing pops up asking me to sync with my laptop. If I plug in my iphone it works fine.
it shouldn’t be the cable either. Any ideas? any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Which sort of cable are you using? Maybe you’ve got one that doesn’t fit – if so, try the one that came with it. You should be able to see if you’re connecting at all by going to your “My Computer” folder – see if it pops up there. You might then be able to open the iPad by right clicking on its icon and selecting Open with iTunes…
