Iphone Droid Comparison Verizon

Considering a Droid phone?
I’m on Verizon and I’m in a pickle. I don’t know whether or not I should hold out and wait to see if the iPhone comes on over, or if I should go with a droid or a blackberry. Can anybody provide me with an accurate comparison between the droid and the iPhone?! Or if something like the Blackberry Storm 2 might be worth my while? I’m just a wee bit indecisive when it comes to this. Many thanks!
better option than the iPhone, or the blackberry, or both?
The Motorola Droid (and the soon to be released Droid Incredible) are equal or better than iPhone 3GS from a hardware point of view.
The number of apps for iPhone is more than for Android or Blackberry, but the number of Android apps is growing really fast, and most of the well known iPhone apps are already available on Android, or will be soon.
Android supports true multitasking (running more than one program at once). iPhone doesn’t do this at all right now, and when iPhone OS 4.0 comes out, it will still only offer a limited form of multitasking, not as comprehensive as Android (which is based on Linux OS). Android easily lets you add widgets to your home screen (such as a live calendar, live weather, live news updates, etc.) but iPhone doesn’t do this (you have to launch an app to see this kind of stuff) and I’m pretty sure it won’t in OS 4.0 either.
With iPhone you can only get apps that have been approved by Apple to be in their app store; Google is not as restrictive in their equivalent Market store for Android, and anyway you can also get apps from other sources too, without having to do anything like “jailbreaking” as would be required on iPhone.
There is an upside to Apple’s app store policy; it tends to weed out many junky apps, which means the overall quality of iPhone apps tends to be a bit better than Android apps – but that doesn’t mean there aren’t many quality Android apps, it just means there may be a little more junk to skip through to find them.
Notice how I haven’t said anything about Blackberry. From what I know, these are only a good idea if you need one for business reasons – and stay away from the Storm/Storm 2, apparently it’s been a market disappointment.
I also haven’t said anything about Palm phones, I don’t know them well either, but I do know that the company Palm is not doing well and there aren’t as many apps, and probably won’t be a lot more for that reason either.
P.S. It makes no sense to wait to see if iPhone ever shows up on Verizon. Some people have probably been doing this ever since the iPhone was released! Neither Apple nor Verizon have said anything official, and the latest rumors about this aren’t really any more convincing than they have been in the past.
