Iphone New Computer Itunes
how can i move all songs from my iphone to a new computer? (with itunes everything will be erased)?
i have an iphone with alot of songs and the first time i synced it was in a computer that i no longer have access to. So i want to sync it and move all the songs in it to a new computer MACBOOK… what can i do? if i use itunes all music will be erased! can i download something free to ddo that?
Turn off autosync before you do anything– go to iTunes> Preferences> Devices and check the box that says “Prevent from syncing automatically.”
Then make sure iTunes on your new computer is authorized to your iTunes account if you haven’t done this already– Go to Store> Authorize computer and put in the same email address that you’ve always used to purchase your apps.
Now, connect your iphone but do NOT let iTunes associate the phone with the new library yet. Go to File> Transfer purchases from iPhone. Your phone should sync for a while then all your music and apps SHOULD be in your iTunes library. Double check the library against the phone, though. If everything– apps and music and whatever else– is there on your hard drive, you’re clear to go ahead and sync to the new library. If you don’t want iTunes to empty your phone on the first sync, make sure the “Sync Apps” and “Sync Music” boxes on those tabs are not checked until after your first backup on the new computer.
If iTunes STILL will not transfer your music to your phone after you turn off sync and tell it to transfer purchases, you should look at using Windows Media Player to get the files physically off the phone onto your hard drive and then you can import them into your iTunes library that way. The Windows iPod solution has a free trial.
