How Good Is The New Boost Mobile Prevail, The Android One.?
I was thinking about buying the new boost mobile prevail and iwas just wondering if anybody knew how good it was and if it was worth buying.
oh and also can you play facebook games on it like on the IPhone?

I’ve owned this phone since the minute it came out, have a lot of real-life, hands-on experience with it. It is a great little phone.
The Samsung Prevail is a svelte, sharp-looking device. It is small, pocket-able and has a very elegant look and feel to it. The operating system is Android 2.2, also known as Froyo. This means you can do just about anything with your Prevail phone.
For example, you have access to thousands of apps in the Android Market, thousands of games and many apps that interface with facebook.
The camera is good! It is a 2mp (two megapixel) camera; I’ve captured some great images from this and recommend the camera as good. Have coupled this with a couple of well-chosen Camera Apps to get some very nice photos. I’ve even printed up some very nice 4 x 6 prints at Walgreens and a few passable 5 x 7 prints as well. You can also record and play back Video of course.
Messaging and Picture Messaging are simple with the stock android messaging app, you also have access to more complex (fancy) messaging apps in the Android Market – many for free.
Little bonuses … Samsung (thoughtfully) pre-installs a File Browser (My Files), and a Task Manager in this phone. The file browser is excellent, and I think it’s great to find one pre-installed. Though the jury is still out on Task Managers (some think they are great, others think they are not), I found this pre-installed gem to be much easier to work than others I’ve used (on other phones) from the Market.
There is also a “Think Free Office” pre-installed – I went ahead & signed up for an account online, then tested this out, and it’s a nice little bonus.
The phone comes with a 2GB (two gigabyte) micro SD card, for added storage of music (mp3), photos and videos. You can upgrade this to 4GB or an 8GB card for anywhere between $12 – $19 at Best Buy, Office Max, etc. In fact, this phone will accept all the way up to 32GB storage card (more than most of us will need, but nice to have).
You can do Bluetooth and Wifi connection for fast surfing, internet and file transfer. There is also GPS capability, meaning you can get turn-by-turn, Spoken directions to any location you wish to find. I’ve used this extensively on mine.
This phone (and Boost service) were good enough for me to port an 11-year phone number (and service) from one of the major providers. I love the $50 per month, Unlimited “Everything” benefits of Boost Mobile, am now paying a fraction of what I was before … with more talk time, more web, more text, more everything.
You will see some disparaging reviews on this phone around the web … most of those are written by tech snobs, who (foolishly) rag on this, as they compare the Prevail to a Droid X, HTC EVO and other premium phones (all of which would cost over $500 – $600 without a two-year contract) … and none of which can be used on the Boost Mobile network.
Other than the LG Optimus V (from Virgin Mobile), I don’t think there has ever been a better sub-$200 phone. I also own an Optimus V and consider it as good as the Prevail.
Another bonus, is that you can find the Samsung Prevail at almost any Best Buy, Target, Radio Shack, or any of the independent Boost Mobile shops – most of whom will help you get activated right there on the spot.
