how to jailbreak iphone 4 firmware 4.1 (8b117)?
I have the iphone4 firmware 4.1 (8b117), I am running on windows 7, I have changed my hosts name, I know that I have to connect my phone to itunes, then hit the power button, to turn off my phone, then hold the power and menu button at the sametime, then releasing while holding on the the menu button after i see the screen light up again. then an error message pops up to recover, then press “shift”+recovery selecting the iphone 4.0.1 downgrade file, which i downloaded already.
My problem is: at the end of the recovery, it saus, it can’t do the recover and recieve an error message
2nd problem: i got the recboot, but when i try to run it, it get the message, “to run this application, you first must install one of the following versons of the .netframework.
Can someone tell me what am i doing wrong
Good, you saved me a lot of instructions.
You can’t downgrade unless you had already jailbroken that iPhone on iOS 4.0.1 or earlier…. BUT Apple still had to be “signing” the firmware when you jailbroke it in order for Cydia to save your SHSHs (the reason you edit the hosts file is to direct iTunes to Cydia’s servers).
If you did jailbreak it on 4.0.1 before the week after Apple released 4.0.2, then you should be able to downgrade to 4.0.1, as Cydia would have been able to save your SHSHs. If this is the case:
Make sure your computer has an internet connection, and make sure that your iPhone is actually in DFU mode (the screen should be completely black when in DFU mode). Also, make sure that you downloaded the correct firmware. A good resource for firmware is:
