Iphone Virus?
I just read that there is some kind of virus out there that is infecting the iphone. how do you get those? from just surfing around on the net with it?
No. There are no viruses for the iPhone.
What you have read is that somebody has created a Trojan horse for the iPhone. (Remember, Trojan horses are not viruses. Viruses replicate themselves. Trojan horses do not.) The Trojan horse doesn’t do anything when you install it, but the uninstall information lists some useful applications on the phone, so when you uninstall it, they are gone too.
Since it doesn’t replicate (it’s not a virus), you don’t “get” it by surfing around. The only way to get it on your iPhone is by installing it from the Web site of its author – and that site no longer exists. Furthermore, it can be installed only on hacked (unlocked) iPhones – since you can install only software approved by Apple on the normal ones. So, if you haven’t hacked your iPhone, it is safe.
