Iphone Voicemail Full Problems
Reception in L.A. for Iphone 3GS?
I bought the Iphone 3GS in July and I live in West Los Angeles and go to school in Las Vegas. Everything was working, I had full service everywhere at home. In Vegas, reception is even better and I have full bars 24/7.
Problem is, when I come home I don’t seem to have all the bars or I hardly receive texts anywhere in L.A. I have to turn off my phone and turn it back on at least once a day to receive all texts sent to me and sometimes I miss phone calls and it goes straight to voicemail because of this. Does anyone else have the same problem with their Iphone or AT&T?

I have lived in L.A. my entire life and have had Cingular for 10 years. Never had a problem with any phone until the iPhone these past couple of months. I don’t think it has to do with AT&T and living in L.A.

Have you updated your software recently? Sometimes they have glitchy updates but they seem to follow them quickly with good updates. If updating doesn’t work, you should call customer service, because if that’s happening to you all over LA something is up.
There are service gaps with all carriers, and sometimes the iPhone has to be reset, just like a computer. But I have just as good reception with AT&T iPhone (and another AT&T phone) as I do with my Verizon phone and better than my son’s Virgin Mobile/Sprint phone.
There tends to be slightly different gaps with AT&T and Verizon, but both have their issues. Like in downtown LA it depends on which side of the tall buildings you are on. On the Westside the gaps are similar. Verizon is a touch better way up high in the Pasadena hills, but not much. Some areas are intentionally blocked from service it seems, like around Caltech there are blank spots I’m told are intentional. (I liked Verizon, my dh wanted iPhones, I checked with friends who travel to similar areas and they said AT&T service was good.)
I don’t have problems with iPhone texts, in fact, they come through when I can’t make a call, which is why we take the iPhones hiking and camping — only phone out of about 50 that got reception at all in Joshua Tree. Sometimes the iPhone texts don’t go through, but it’s rare, and I text all day from all over LA from Pasadena to Malibu.
