How can I permanently delete/uninstall unwanted apps from my HTC?
I’m very happy with my Desire HD I bought today yet it seems to have come with the likes of Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Weather reports, Stockmarket news…etc.etc.etc ready installed which I don’t want taxing my phone.
Now I’ve gone to >Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Apps > All > …I select the app & the only option available to me is ‘Force Stop’ which I guess just stops it syncing temporarily but I want rid. There is an option present to ‘uninstall’ which isn’t highlighted like I don’t have the ability to do so :S
I paid good money for a smartphone for fast mobile browsing for work use. I never asked for it to be cluttered with all this 3rd party affiliated ****
Sorry if I seem angry but it’s starting to bother me & the HD is a great piece of tech that has enough to cope with on its battery without unnecessary programmes draining its resource.
It’s like having adware running in the background of my PC
The ONLY way you will remove any apps that were bundled with your phone’s OS by the cell phone carrier, is to Root your phone.
[GUIDE] How to root Desire HD (DHD) install h-boot (S-Off) and Clockwork recovery
Start here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841076
READ everything before you start doing anything. If the thread guide says to download things, do so. Follow the directions and you will have a rooted phone and will be able to remove bundled apps, BUT make sure you ask about any system apps before touching them, as they are needed.
Or Google Desire HD one click root and pick a method, but as above, follow the directions to a T or you may end up with a $400+ buck paperweight.
