How does the mobile phone bluetooth spy software work?

Once you download this to your phone, what are the next steps?
Do you have to be near the phone you’re trying to access?
Do you have to dial the number and have them answer?
Could the download send a virus to your phone and mess it up?
Once you have the software can you use it at anytime or is it like a one time use thing?

Well, it depends on which particular software it is and how it is designed. Since you didn’t specify that, most of your questions cannot be answered in a satisfactory way. What I can tell you is this:

1) Bluetooth is a short-range radio, so you have to be within a short range (no more than 10-15 meters) from the device you want to connect to.

2) You don’t have to dial any numbers – Bluetooth connections are device-to-device and doesn’t pass through your mobile operator. Too bad, really, otherwise the operators would have been able to filter the malicious traffic (i.e., viruses), as they do with the viruses that spread as MMS messages.

3) Any Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone within Bluetooth range can send you a virus – no matter what software you’re using. Whether the virus will actially do something to your phone (or even whether it will install at all) depends on your phone model and on whether you accept to receive and install the package containing the virus.
