Does It Cost To Tether With The Nexus S?
The Google Nexus S has a feature that allows you to turn your phone into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot however I was wondering if you could use tethering on the UK network GiffGaff.
GiffGaff states “The member needs to have an unlocked mobile phone in order to use the SIM, although phones locked to the O2 network will work.[citation needed] The terms and conditions prevent the use of tethering, i.e. a giffgaff SIM may not be used in USB modems or other data only devices such as the iPad.” does this mean I cant tether for free?
This is where the confusing bit comes in… On the Nexus S website (http://www.google.co.uk/nexus/#/features) it said at the end of the portable Wi-Fi hotspot video “Once connected these devices will have access to the internet with no additional carrier fees.” and then at the bottom of the paragraph about Wi-Fi hotspots on google.com it said “*Additional fees may apply based on carrier policy.”

first…. screw the carrier mumbo jumbo….. It telling you in a fancy way that Tethering fees may apply based on your carrier, but WIFI is always free………..All carriers charge for tethering, if you buy it from them (hint)…..
But the Nexus is a Droid… so screw them!…….. Go to the Market… download EasyTether…Its $9.95 USD… one flat fee!!! No Montlhy Fee… No additional charges… nada!!! just pay 9.95 for the app and thats it… I have it my Droid X… Wife has it on her LG Ally… works flawlessly
