Caller ID without paying $9 monthly service fee?
My internet provider is also my telephone service provider. Isn’t there some way to see (via the computer?) who’s calling without paying the $9 a month service fee. When you contact the telephone company and activate the caller ID feature, what is it exactly they’re doing? Are they allowing a signal (ID) to be sent or are they just “unblocking” a signal? It seems like it would be the latter. If so, wouldn’t this signal be coming over the phone line that also serves the computer? Surely you guys out there that are much smarter than me have figured this out?
no because the phone company controls the caller id-if you are using Internet for your phone it’s not the same equipment. Also the caller id feature is “turned on” the the central office, if it’s not “on” it won’t come through. Unless your Internet provider offers caller id, it won’t work.
